Google announced that its BERT algorithm is now rolling out in 70+ languages.
BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers ) is a form of AI that allows Google to better understand relationships between elements of language in a search term. The company confirms that the new algorithm has impacted 1 out of 10 search queries entered on Google search.
“Particularly for longer, more conversational queries, or searches where prepositions like “for” and “to” matter a lot to the meaning, Search will be able to understand the context of the words in your query. You can search in a way that feels natural for you.” said Google when the algorithm was first introduced to search in October.
Will this move affect international SERPs?
It seems that BERT as the most important Google search update in the past five years. The BERT is reported to have affected 10% of search queries for the English language rollout in the United States. Google found that BERT helped its algorithms to better understand the context of search queries and the connections between words that it previously couldn’t. BERT enables Google to better understand search queries and thus drive more search traffic to relevant web pages.
